Please tell me I got a Hen:( Otherwise see trade post that will follow...

Yes it looks very much like a little roo to me too, the red in the comb at such an early age is big give away the chick looking up at you in the first pic also looks like a boy, could you show us pics of the other two?

Here are all 3 of my girls. And 1 photo of both my Barred Rocks:)

Both... Dot in the middle and CryBaby to the upper right.

More photo's of Dot.

Red

CryBaby

She is dead in this last photo;) LOL!!

Wattles are the things that hang down from the "cheek" area near the beak.

Thank you!!

Here are heritage bred, Barred Rocks at 12 weeks. Notice how slow they grow. They take almost twice as long to reach the growth bench marks. But, notice how distinctive and sharp the feathering and barring is. Quite remarkable, the difference.

What remains a constant? The combs and wattles.

Great looking Rock's Fred!!!

Don't care how dark it is, I bet it's a boy with that much red at that age. I had one like that also, very dark, dark wash down legs, etc. Turned out it wasn't a 'pure' BR and it was definitely a roo. :(

I hear you Fred about the wattles and I believe you:) I found lots of photo's online when looking for wattles and found lots of hen's with them.

Check these out:

So, if Dot has wattles, is that a clear sign that I have a roo? Is there no other way to find out?

I really love this bird and I want to know for sure:)
