plotting rescue

Apples? Any fruit? How about yogurt? That's a good one. Applesauce? Cottage cheese?

I have a banana, and I think I might have yogurt.... do you really think it will work? I don't want him hurting anyone.

I would put yogurt in a flat lid, just a spoonful, and slice the banana into a split, leaving it in the peel. Put 1/4 the banana in his brooder and the lid of yogurt, and sprinkle the feed slowly onto the two treats. The sprinkling action will get his attention. Tap the food with the handle of a spoon or your finger to imitate a momma pecking if the sprinkling alone doesn't work. Once he's interested, remove the barrier and the others will join in slowly. This should help.

lol, sounds like.....
I just sliced up some banana and I think I might try it...... might also put a little applesauce or yogurt..... gotta watch him like a hawk, I will go try........

Category" Foods you can eat without chewing for $ 2,000"

I've got it - ice cream it's at the top, middle and bottom of MY food pyramid.

You so absolutely cannot believe what just happened......
Out of the frying pan and into the fire!!!
I was horrified, but it has turned out okay, thank God!
He got stuck on a piece of duck tape I had used to make the divider!!!! I am not making this up.... so I ended up having to dip my finger in vegetable oil and carefully remove the tape! I can't believe it worked, but it did and I got it off..... whew!!!
So, now there is no divider, there is a lid with slices of banana, little bit of applesauce on top of that, and then I sprinkled some feed on top of it. One of the others was watching me sprinkle the feed, so I will give them a few minutes and then go check..... right now I am trying to get my heart to restart.....

So now that you have been sufficiently horrified, I am happy to say that "Brutus" is doing fine (a little shiny, lol). He is however back in isolation (without duck tape!) because I went in and he was still pecking everyone in the eyes..... It seems that the banana/ applesauce treat did nothing to deter him

I will continue to try to find a solution...

The chicks you saved today are doing great, so now will you follow thru and actually make their rescue mean something? Will you right a letter of complaint to the manager and corporate headquarters of TSC? Will you make an effort to get the TSC employees educated or offer to help with problem chicks? Someone here said the TSC gives them injured chicks rather than doing away with them. YEAH! The two TSC and Coastal managers I approached said it was against corporate policy. They wouldn't even sell them to me at a discount. I wrote letters of complaint and stopped shopping at the one who did not change their treatment of chicks.

If you do not make more effort than just giving them your money then your gesture is hollow and completely self serving. You made yourself feel better while making almost no difference.

If anyone sees a bad situation like that, buy the chicks if you want, but COMPLAIN every where you can. Directly to the manager, with their corporate headquarters, call the Humane society if it's bad enough. Get your friends to do the same things. CHANGE THE SITUATION!

If this makes you feel bad, well, then, maybe you need to stop and see what you can do to really help.

I think Brutus needs to spend some time with bigger, older chicks that won't allow him to eye peck and may peck him back instead.
