What protein % is the feed, Scott?

Punky....I use the Chick Starter from Tucker Milling. It is 18%. They get this exclusively for 3 weeks (plus some scrambled eggs daily). At 3 weeks when I place them in a grow up pen, they get Chick Starter and then I change to a mix of chick starter and SUPER lay pellets (22%) at about 6-8 weeks. Slowly wean them from the Chick Starter to about 16 weeks, then SUPER lay pellets up to POL. At POL they get a mix of regular layer (16%) and SUPER Layer (22%), giving me a steady 19% protein feed

Good. I am starting mine on Blue Seal's chick N game bird starter 22%, for the first 8 weeks, as recommended then to turkey grower also 22%.

Have a nice night,

I've had a problem with that this year as well. I haven't lost any birds or chicks and I have about 35 chicks at the moment. I give them Ambrol the day they hatch for the first week and then sulfasomething a month later, and then alternate as needed after that. If a bird starts to lay around too much they come into the house and the water intake gets monitored.

I've been hatching a few Ameraucanas and mostly Silver Pencil Plymouth Rocks. I'll be selling a lot of them as they mature after I pick out a few keeper birds. (If anyone is interested in a few chicks them let me know.)

HennyPen, what is AMBROL? Thats a new one to me, but maybe I need to look into it. I feed medicated chick starter until 16 weeks and put Corid in the water as I see signs/symptoms

Thanks

Scott

Scott this is the same stuff put in chick feed for cocci. You can buy it seprate and add it yourself like Henny is doing. You would not add this to medicated feed for it has it already.

Looks like a production white rock, I don't think I see any pointed feathers, but it is still young. With that comb I am leaning toward male though.

Well, I have set up 12 eggs in my new incubator. They are due to hatch on the 28 of this month.

I really need them to hatch for I need replacements bad. Luckily the three that have hatched by moms are doing great. 2 are out with moms third still in house but will go outside with others this week.

Thank You. I just added another 3 for a total of 15. Chickens are not being helpful in egg department right now. But if we get even hald to hatch I will be thrilled.
