Plymouth Rock thread!

My blue rocks had barring. 2 were blue is and it was very hard to see i didnt even know it for months. I also had 2 splash hens and they were making me some sex links when i crossed them with a sold roo. One girl must have been barred but you could not see it on the splash.

I was looking at my collection of American Standard of Perfection books today and every edition I have 1910, 1915, 1924, 1945, 1969, 1989 & 2010 has a illustration of the Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks.

Thank you for posting, it is odd how in 1910 they had more of a "U" back, but ALL the others are more straight line! Love the old pics, for the most part the standard never changed.

Important to note is that it's the text that matters. The illustrations are just that artists interpretation. I know a few over the years have been rather incorrect and caused some fuss. (Not sayin the Rock is, just that some have been)

Hi, I was wondering if you guys could help me. I bought these silver pencil barred rock from a guy who hatched some eggs. I got them when they were 4-5 weeks old and he said they were pullets. They are now 9-10 weeks old and I have a feeling they are cockerals. I'm new to chickens so I'm pretty bad at sexing but tell me what you guys think? I can't have roosters so if they are then they will need to go. Pictures are of the same bird. I only got two of them but they look identical... I'm really hoping I didn't end up with 2 roo's... :X
.

Hi Rachael
The Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock illustrations in the 1924, 1945 & 1969 American Standard of Perfection was the artwork of Arthur O. Schilling and his work was in a class of it's own.
