Hi Silver Rock
My first hatch was on March 15th, and the second hatch was in the second week of April. I'm going to combine the birds from the first hatches soon, but separate the cocks from the pullets. Will be culling most of the roosters when they reach a decent eating size.
Yes, the cocks are very eye catching, and so far they have been very placid, except with each other. The younger one from a 2012 hatch now keeps his distance from the larger 2011 cock. I am going to remove the larger cock from the laying hens pen and add in the younger cock (I didn't get a pic of him), because I want some hatching eggs from him too
JeffWere these cherlycohen stock? I'm thinking you were the person lucky enough to get such good stuff to begin working with, keep us updated, thanks

No, they are not related to Cheryl Cohens stock. As they say in the Red Rose Tea commercial, "Only in Canada, you say."
Jeff
We have "cherlycohen" stock in the US!!! In actuality, her stock originated from Wynette, (administrator here on BYC) and Wynette has been working with them for several more years than anyone I am aware of
My apologies, you are correct, Dick has also been in them for many years as well ("oldtimers disease" kicks in occasionally here)Hi Scott
What about Dick Horstman. He has been working with the Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks for many years.

Ashburnham, your Barred Rock cock is beautiful! Australia is so very far away! There must be some history that would explain how Plymouth Rocks travelled all the way to Australia. Were they imported recently? or back in the 1800's?
