Thank you so much! Most of my hens are at their full size I just have a couple I'd like to tell from a distance. Up close each are recognizable. It's when I get those bbs that I have a hard time. The lock bands work a bit better than the bandettes; they are available here:

The bandettes come off the bird on occasion; these lock bands are semi-permanent (though still removeable if you wish, and can be reused).
Fred,
The Maine line, sexable at hatch: Yes or no?
I have one hatched 3 freaking days early. Never has that ever happened to me, and I've hatched weekly for a year straight.. save two months in the winter.
I have other breeds in this hatch: all are less developed. When I first put them in I candled at day 2 and it was clear as day they were developing. Strong, strong embryos. Out of 33 all but 12 are internally pipped. The 12 left have smaller air cells but are still alive. Probably will hatch on time rather than this early.. One out, 5 external pips in the incubator.
First out is not dry yet, but I'd like to attempt sexing by down colour, head spot, and leg colour at hatch and mark them. See if it is possible for the future. Just thought I'd ask you if in your experience with this line that they were.

Well some are quite suitable matches for the system, but others are not. We will see soon I guess! As much as one can. I always think I know, or at least pretty darn sure about them. At 3-4 weeks they are pretty much a sure bet.
