Plymouth Rock thread!

Everyone, meet Frances! Well, I might go with Francesca, I haven't decided yet. But either way, isn't she beautiful?

And thank you all so much for your help and information on getting her settled in.

Rock Chicks (Barred) are 4 weeks old, and the Silver Pencilled are 5 weeks.

PEI Chicken, the chicks are doing very well! Both of the Easter Eggers I hatched out of your eggs are girls, so I am happy about that :) One looks just like her mother.
Looking good! :)

Hi Aoxa, good to see pics of your sppr chicks. Glad to hear that they are doing well and that the easter egger ones are pullets. Their mother is a great egg layer. I have 9 more chicks running around outside now with 2 broody hens. Much easier to have the hens looking after them. After I returned from camping on the 19th, I removed all the eggs from the 5 sitting sppr hens and placed ice packs in the nest boxes for the day. Still have one hen that is determined to sit in an empty nest, but at least they gave me 3 fresh eggs today. I expect that most of them will get back to laying within the next month.

I stopped by a friends today and ended up coming home with a white Rock roo that came out of chick she got from me. I'm pretty sure his type isn't good but she had too many boys so I figured I'd help her out, also got a little white game roo too, looks like a 'mini me' of the WR guy, lol. Was kinda funny, i had completely forgotten that she got the only roo that was in that batch of chicks.

He was too excited about the young girls so didn't wanna stand still.

Yes, I did not quarantine him, she got all of her chickens from me and we do a lot of swapping back & forth throughout the year as she needs new ones and i spot some I'd like back in my flock. :)

Both of the EEs have pea combs as well, so chances are they will lay green like their mother. Good looking birds all around.

I have so many broodies right now. 7 total. All have eggs. Five have chicks, one due to hatch this week and one next week. It really is the easiest way.

Well even with all the stress of moving to a new home, and already being two years old, Frances laid an egg for me today! I'm so excited and proud of my new baby! :) I'm really liking having a barred rock! :)
