Every time I come to this thread, I'm just amazed at the new pics! Lovely birds, all!

Kathy.....did you haul your scale out to your coop?? I'm glad you were able to get some answers. Hope things are on the right track for you. I've been a little disappointed in the leg color of my silver pencileds. THey are yellow, but a sort of buff yellow, not nice & bright as I'd like to see. Sigh.

My PPR roos have yellow legs the hens have the dusty wash over the yellow there is a thread someplace that explained the genetics of the yellow shanks and why the hens have the dusty wash....the heritage site says to worry about the colors last after you have type and size and eggs....it must be like the light yellow and seems like green cast the Delawares have in some .....if breeding good chickens were easy all the hatcheries would be selling SOP. I'm so glad that we are trying to preserve these beautiful chickens

who makes a good scale to use..I have a hanging one that I can use but I'd like to find a digital for weighing chicks etc

Well Kathy let us know how it works because I don't like the one I have but it works good enough with a bucket for bigger birds hard for chicks though

One way you can weigh them is to get some digital scales from Wally World maybe like these:

and put a 5 gallon bucket on top. Then, tare the scale and place the bird inside the bucket. This calms them so they will be still long enough to get a good weight.
