Eggs are from BYC er Chooks Chick and she sent them to me in a "hens choice" auction. So excited!!!

Incredible! I would love to see them!

Sometime in the near future I would also love to get some silver-penciled Rocks

If they hatch I will post pics!

The guy has a splash rooster (which he offered to me, I want it but I don't know if I have room for another rooster...

) but I believe he is using a blue PR. And he certainly has the blue hens, so I believe that would be solid. Am I correct?

Partly correct. With a splash roo over blue hens, you will get splash and blue. I think the ratio will be 50% splash and 50% blue.

Here is Mr. Horstman's website http://horstmanspoultry.com/contactus.html he is very up front about cost. All of his breeds cost the same amount. I bought a dozen straight run SPPR last year, 13 were shipped all 13 made it, only 4 ended up being boys. I kept my fav Boy and he really is a GREAT bird. I am down to just 2 of the SPR hens because I changed my focus from a breeding flock to a laying flock for now, until I have the time and room to dedicate myself to it. Over all I would say Mr. Horstman was a great person to deal with and would recommend both him and his birds to others.

i don't know but will ask.

ETA does anyone have silver penciled rocks in Northern CA?
Not sure about who in Cali has them, but Wynette (a moderator here on BYC) has some of the BEST Silver Penciled LF Plymouth Rocks that I've seen

Might be worth a PM to her as I don't know what she has available (eggs, chicks, etc)

Good luck, they are a beautiful color variety

I believe he is using the blue Plymouth Rock. He told me that he gets pretty much all blues when he does that.
But that is truly helpful information! *points accusing finger* Now look what you've done! You've got me really wanting a rooster that I don't need!
