Agree. Saying whose foundation stock they came from pays respect to that breeder, I feel, but after a generation or two of selecting and breeding, they aren't "that person's name" anymore, that is for sure.
Another thing that keeps us humble in this fancy is that although I may get a dozen chicks from a very famous line, there are zero guarantees that anything I got, in the luck of the draw, is top notch, as is. The work still lies ahead. It is a sobering thing to consider that even great birds can really, really go backward fast, another sobering thought. Making good decisions and committing to a 4 or 5 year process can be daunting, but is almost always required.
