Yard - SOOO sorry to hear you lost a couple due to the heat! Yes, it's been incredibly hot here, too. Our saving grace has been the breeze....we've had really good breezes on the super hot days thus far! I've been treating mine to chunks of frozen watermelon, but they only last so long before they thaw. Sigh...

Kelly, your SPPRs are looking really good! It takes them a long time to get the penciling in, but once it's in, they're just GORGEOUS! I'd like to have some Partridge some day...

They're not early layers, though, so you've probably got a good 10 more weeks to wait for eggs.

my first eggs from the Partridge Rock pen and I have 9 lively chicks from my Silver Penciled Rocks from Wynette so now I have 11 total the first 2 are looking like pullets those came from uglyducky so it looks like I'm collecting some rocks I have 1 white pullet and she started off pretty sorry but looking pretty good now. 20 Partridge Rocks but most of those are destined for the layer pen only a few good quality ones but the 4 or 5 I'm going to keep are looking very nice even the hens have good yellow shanks and I thought they would keep that dusty wash over the yellow but on the best looking pullets they are now mostly yellow. It sure takes patience to wait on them to finish maturing out and they are starting to mellow out they were so flighty to start so I might keep a small pen as I was thinking to sell the whole bunch....I know you all told me to wait and I still am not the best for waiting but learning to be a little better at waiting......

Way kewl, Lotsa! So glad to hear it! Oh, goodness...if patience is not a high point of yours, then you'll hate the silver pencilds. They take forever to get their adult plumage in. But...they are SOOOO pretty once they get feathered!

you really do need to give them about 6 months before making decisions, though.....
