We live in the country just south of Burleson, TX... Parents have lived here 22 yrs, and had 2 horses when they moved in, hence community rule didn't apply.
Said neighbor lives right next door to my parents, who I now live with.
The reason my parents had to get rid of the 1st 5 adults was because the Leghorn rooster was crowing and scared the neighbor (his childhood bad memories came back
).
So he threw the 20+ yr/old community rules at us and made my parents get rid of the rooster, but since the hens grew up with him they went also.
My dad is a softy, and instead of telling a man that has only lived here maybe 4 yrs to sit on it, those rules don't apply anymore he gave in (just to be considerate) and said No Roosters when mom and I asked for chickens again.
But like speckledhen said the 1 could just be a hen that has a slight color difference. I'm just pushy enough to tell the neighbor what for and will not allow another pet chicken be rehomed.
As I said before 'Only Time Will Tell"
I think the Sultan chick we have is a rooster, but he can come in the house at night to keep his crowing less noticeable.
