Plymouth Rock thread!

Hi there,

Got a better pic of my Rock chick. Question is, pure with bad barring or crossbred? He's sweet so even if he is a cross he will probably get to hang around with the layers if he's a good boy.

Thank you

you're like me always wanting to "know" when the chicks are too young to really tell let him grow up some more and then ask us but we all love pics whenever you post them when was he hatched? I have some chicks that are maybe close to the same age Partridge Rocks I guess I should take pictures too

Thank you and yes, I'm a bit impatient. lol

He'd be about 5 1/2 to 6 weeks old now, I'm not sure exactly when he was hatched as I got him between 1 - 2 weeks old and my friend wasn't sure exactly how old they were when she got them. (Dog attack killed her broody so she passed the chicks to me because she knew I was looking for chickens)

I guess I'm just wondering if he's not pure because I was sure he was a pullet being so dark, till his comb grew and started turning pink and now he likes sparing with my Wellie cockerel.

He also came with 4 SG Dorkings, 2 of them are missing their 5th toes and a few other things are making me doubt the quality (and purity) of the assorted chicks. I'll be so glad if he grows up nice as he is my favorite chick of the 10.

Darker than most, but he's a boy. With the comb development and those tree trunks for legs, I have no doubt. With his darker coloring, he could be a black sex link rooster. Hard to tell until he gets older though.
