Polish Hen shot in head with BB gun

ya hippichick,, i would keep giving it to her,, and keep fresh ointment on it,, i would even do a warm rag on her a few times a day,, the warm wet rag will "bring thing up" and get all the yuck to drain out,, the warm rag will make alot of yuck come towards itself and out.

Thanks , Jim. Will do. She's still with me this morning. I put more Antibiotic ointment on it. She's still alert, seems to be doing ok. Paula

So sorry to hear about this. I agree that 10 years old should be old enough to know better, and that this could be a very dangerous kid in a few years.

On the other hand, is it possible that he doesn't see the chicken as a pet...with feelings and emotions? He may be seeing it as just something people eat, and that it doesn't mean anything. My DH had no idea that chickens had such personality til I got mine. Maybe you should have him come help you with your chores...COMPLETELY SUPERVISED, of course! Then you can see how he interacts with them, and if he really didn't see them as real pets, or if he is a true psychopath in the making. >shudder<

He might really enjoy being around the animals, and if the polish is still friendly to him and doesn't hold a grudge, it might really affect him in a good way.

Hope your girl gets better! Keep us posted!
