my friend picked them up for me- they are in a bit of rough shape- bald spots on 2 and some beat up tail feathers- but feathers are growing in well on the bald spots and they were a good deal.

I don't want roo's though *sigh*

She named em Side Show Bob, Friar Tuck, and Liz Taylor LOL

Here are my five Buff Laced Polish big_smile Are all polish so flighty?? These five freak out every time I feed/water them. EVERY time. Wish they were a little calmer. They are bearded and SO cute! I love them big_smile Now I hope I at least have 2 girls! Anyone have any thoughts on sex yet? I know it's pretty early but....

Cute chicks, too early to tell about sex, but you'll notice that some poofs cover the eyes more and more, and other poofs do not. That usually gives me a good idea, but I've been fooled.

Mine have all been flightly until they get to the egg laying age. Then they have all seemed to mellow out , get friendly, and don't mind being handled, even my roos.

Here is an update on photos of my BLP Two of them anyhow. They are the two that look most opposite. Do you think one hen and one roo?? One of the poofs is WAY larger then the other. I'm thinking the one my son is holding is a boy possibly. Only going by poofs though.

Hangin Wit My Peeps Thank you for the pictures but I'll hold off commenting on the sex of the BLP. You son looks so sweet, I bet he is a very huggable little guy. Reminds me of when my boy was that age, so sweet and innocent.

Imalearning I like the sounds of your barnyard also. Are the goats wethers, doe and baby or a breeding pair. I am looking forward to pictures of your animals also.

Break through! Lately I've been trying to get my 7 week old polish to be more tame, along with the dominique that we got with her. I put my 4 week old chicks who are very tame in with them a few days ago, hoping they would rub off on the older chicks. The polish and dominique aren't as nervous of me anymore, and today when one of the 4 wk. old chicks was asleep on my shoulder the polish flew up and joined him! She only stayed there for maybe 7 seconds before she realised what she had done and flew back down. Oh, well, I'm just happy it happened!

I'm going to trim her crest in a week so she can see better and not be as nervous.

A few questions for the GENETICS Gurus!!!

Ok, I don't have chickens- my mom does, so I joined to ask questions for her

She got LF Polish last year for the first time (has had chickens for yrs- but Polish are new)

Her breeding age Flock:

1 Gold Lace Roo
1 Bearded Silver Lace Roo

1 Gold Lace Hen
1 Bearded Silver Lace Hen
1 Red on Red hen
1 paint/splash hen
2 WC Black hens- added a couple months ago
1 Blue Frizzle hen- added a couple months ago

Plus I picked up 2 WC paint, 2 WC splash, 1 WC Blue chicks,
& out of her hatches this year she has held back: 2 buff lace (1 frizzled), 1 blue & 1 Silver Lace (bearded- forgot to check other chicks)
we don't know their sexes yet.

Mine & Mom's questions:

1) out of 3 hatches so far this year there have mainly been Solid Black & Gold Lace chicks born. (plus 2 SL, 2 BL, 2 WC Blacks, 1 Blue, & 1 WC Blue Bantam frizzle from a egg laid within a few days of the frizzle being here- she was housed with LF & Bantams) Will this be normal until the blues, splash, & buff can get added in if they are nice crested big roos?

2) The WC gene- is it Recessive or Dominate? We've only gotten 2 WC from what should be "our" roos. Of course Mom might have collected their eggs during the end of the egg cycle from where they came from. Can a "non-WC" bird carry the gene?

3) We have had 3 hatches so far this yr- they are 6, 4, 2 weeks old as of this comming weekend. The 6 week olds were gathered before the 3 new hens were added, the 4 week olds are from when they just got here & about a week after, and the 2 week olds- well Mom started Gathering and some were as old as 10 days gathered. In the 4 week olds there are 2 that seem bantam to us- smaller than the rest. Where I got the 3 hens they were housed in a sale pen with LF & Bantams together. They are nice Big girls- would they have to carry the Banam gene to throw one? Or could a bantam be thrown if only one parent was?

Thanx a bunch!!

Courtney (and Mom (Linda) too!!!)

Hi everyone! I'm hoping you can help me and provide me with lots if pics and advice!

So I was thinking of ordering some from my pet chicken. How do they look? I don't know anything about polish, so I dot know if hatchery stock are very attractive or not. Does anyone have pics of mpc polish hens?

Also, does anyone know where I could get tollbunt AND blue laced polish from the same place

Thank you!!!
