My showgirl has great type but she is a real bugger. No male can get near her. I have never seen a hen with such a bad attitidue. she is one bossy, tempertantrum throwing little bird. But for what Guibs is looking to breed showbirds could be a good choice. I want my little polish to be pure polish.

this is my 9 week old polish hen benson perching on her tree. she was named in the egg as were all my flock and was completely random as in didn't know what breed until she hatched.

I had one like that. "He" fooled me right up until "he" laid an egg. I think my real buff males didn't have the lacing like the girls do. It was more of dark brown streaks.

yinzerchick that IS a very pretty buff laced polish. It is hard to tell the sex but do not be surprised if your "surprise" bird does not crow. Keep us updated because "he"is really a tossup.

Beautiful bird never seen a roo with white feathers on the headdress like that almost looks like a hen. Here are some pics of roo& hen I have. They are silly birds.

Do you have an incubator? That's the best way to get quality chicks. You can tell hatchery chicks from breeders chicks. Quality is very different.

I have an LG. I did one hatch of 30 shipped eggs a fee months ago and had zero hatch. I have some eggs from a local in it now. Of 18 I only have 6 going into lockdown tomorrow. I'm sure you can understand that I've been pretty turned off of buying hatching eggs. If rather pay a little more to know I'm getting a live chuck/pullet

If you're ever looking for buff laced polish, I hope to have some fertile eggs by spring of next year.

I will try and help you out.

First- you chicks are splash, not paint. There are no paint Polish.

Second- You won't get WC chicks without a WC roo. Plus, the only chicks you will get that aren't mutt colors are if you breed your GL roo and hen together and your SL roo and hen together. Everything else will end up wonky with leakage as they grow and feather out. I would definitely look for a really nice WC black roo. Or a WC blue roo.

Third- They may not be bantam, just slightly smaller than the rest. Best way to find out is weigh them and see which standard them compare to better.

I know you are having a rough time with hatching eggs, but I would really steer away from hatchery Polish, especially if you are wanting to show. Their crests are nothing like what they should be for show and neither are their body types.

Hubby and I have Tolbunts, but we don't sell eggs or chicks. We might have birds in the fall, if we can get some chicks to grow. We also have WC blue Polish (which is what they are, not blue laced, even though they have lacing to their feathers). Check my website for pics of our birds.

Thanks, it's really weird that you posted because I was just gonna come on here looking for sellers. I am actually a little disgusted that my pet chicken wants to charge me forty dollars for shipping four baby chicks. It's a pity because the temps here are perfect right now, but I just can't justify it. I honestly don't mind the hatchery polish because they would be pets only. Eye candy for my new HUGE backyard.

I intend to only keep two polish hens. So I wanted them to be two very different colors. If anyone else here sells day olds for more reasonable shipping and has two different colors, I'd be interested. I know my flock will accept them because I already have showgirls and there are no issues.

Anywhooo, acid_chipmunk, I'm gonna go check out your website right now. Thanks for the heads up. I had a WTB AD on cl with no hits and I just put one up here on the forum...

Anywho...

they most likely are going express mail at that price. That's how I ship all mine, but it's for 20+ chicks and $40, which for express , it really doesnt matter an empty box would be $35
Being that they will ship only 4 is a major plus, most will only do 15-25 min as they need the body heat to survive shipping, only way around that is express mail, heat packs and a lot of luck, personally I dont see how they do such a small order sucessfully anyway. Anyone who is willing to ship you that few chicks MUST go express or you'll just get a box full of dead babies. End result is for 4-5 chicks, you have to do the higher shipping or you just wasted all your money anyway.
Might be better on your end just to wait til this fall and buy 2 yearling pullets and be done with it.
