Day Old Golden Laced Polish

2 weeks old today!

This little chick was a "mystery chick" freebie from McMurray. Hopefully it's a hen because she'll have a home with someone who REALLY wants a Polish and will love her when she grows up.

Unfortunately, s/he thinks s/he's a duck! I am brooding 3 Cayuga ducklings in with my DP's, and this one wants to hang out with the ducks rather than the other chicks, and gets upset if the ducks aren't in sight! *L*

Not very pretty in its Dinosaur feathers - almost could call it the "Ugly Duckling" in your Cayuga flock. Will probably blossom into a beautiful bird!

BRs and Doms are the only breeds I know that are sexable by leg color at day-old. The females have dark legs/toes while the males will have no shading. Also the females usually have tight white dots but the males will have scattered dots usually with extra splashing behind the neck but I've seen females with scattered splashing too. Therefore the legs are the most accurate for sex ID on Doms/BRs and about 99% accurate.

If anyone knows of any other breeds sexable by leg color feel free to chime in.

That's adorable!

They are so cute! I wanted a Mille Fleur D'uccle SO MUCH, but I have to go with standard sizes due to the Pomeranian I don't trust in our home. Are all of your Polish Bantams? My little White Crested Black was the 1st to grow in a big girl tail, & the 1st to get a poofy round beautiful mop on her head. I love her!

:D I have two mille fleur d'uccles, the darkest one is the friendliest! I call him/her Tigger, but not sure on names yet! I also have a porcelain and a golden neck or white- not really sure on that one. The chick was yellow but the feathers are coming in buff looking so i guess I'll have to wait! Lol! I don't believe my polish are bantams. I got them from ideal and it didn't day bantam. I Also have two buff laced girls I got from tractor supply.

We bought this one from jeal henningsburg. For 100 dollars! We bought two more, but for breeding birds.
Below are possibly some of her babies. We had two brothered roosters and 3 hens, so somehow they are all related.

They are all standard sized white crested black. Their dad is going to be replaced by oreo, his son, after fair because the dad is tiny.

polish are the best ! I hatched these babies this spring they are awesome seriously the nicest bird ever this is there last day in the baby pen before they get to go into their Huge new coop we made. Can't wait till I get my npip cert in fall so I can start breeding and shipping across the US ! U name it I can make it lol just about any polish u can imagine so pumped!

Disregard that red ranger broiler she's my mom's she just was too big to keep with the others of her age group. She s chickenzilla lol will be 8 lbs full grown. They all started as the same size peeps and then was 4 pounds at 6 weeks craziest thing I ever saw so I had to throw her in with my first batch of spring babies so she wouldn't crush the rest of her age grou that were about 1/8 of her size.

Enough about her back to polish that gold lace is adorable from Murray mcmurray looks like a pullet! And wow that wc black is gorgeous what a poof

Hey guys I dont know if im doing this right because im new to BYC but i have a question abou my polish and thought i would post it here. We just bought this beautiful polish yesterday (by far my favorite looking) and a bunch of others some for my family as replacements and some for my mother. This is my first polish and she is really nice once you pick her up but she seems so stressed when in the coop ! I was wondering if there was anything i could do and if this is normal ? She is about a year old, laying, and just left her roo yesterday she had been with since they hatched if that has anything to do with it ?

Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.
