It would be an indicator that it is probably a rooster. But at a month it is still early, Hope it turns out to be a rooster for you.
We've named him Orlando Plume. I did see him 'mounting' one of his box mates. I think he's a rooster.

On another note, Lucy, our White Crested Blue, went broody on Saturday. Polish don't usually do that, do they? Her sister went broody last October, but was killed by a coon. It seems odd that both would go broody. Ah well. Broody in their genes, I guess.

Cool on him being a rooster.

No Polish do not usually go broody. I have only had one many years ago that did but was not consistent at staying on the nest.

Hi all,my polish roo keeps walking around with his beak open, come to think of it he has been panting for a long time.pardon my ignorance but I actually thought he was hot as it's been a very warm summer in QLD Australia.I cut around his eyes so he can see and heard him wheezing he is 3months old. Any suggestions what it might be? The other chicks seem fine.

I don't do the "wait-to-see-what-happens." I take my hens immediately to the vet if there is wheezing or limping or lethargic behavior. The only breed I don't worry too much about as they sneeze dirt out of their nostrils a lot are the Leghorns - BUT if it continues all day I don't hesitate to make a vet visit. The smaller the pet the quicker they succumb to deterioration if they have something ailing them. It's a shame not to take them to a vet when something as simple as a shot perks them up. Chickens deserve quality vet visits just as any other pets do - like your dog or cat.

Aww, so sorry to hear that! The same thing happened to me one day with one of my hens. Opened the coop, and there she was. No indication of anything being wrong and all of my other hens were and still are healthy.
