kingbrit, I'm sorry for your loss. We get so attached and it's very hard to lose them. I can't help, but just wanted to say I was sorry.

Does anyone else have an issue of the other chicks picking on your Polish chicks? I'm having the hardest time. My Golden Polish and White Crested Polish are being picked on. The other chicks (they are all almost 12 weeks old) want to pick their little top hats off. If anyone else has this issue, what have you done to stop it? Thanks!

I separated my polish hens from the rest of the flock. They are much happier with out having to constantly be running away from the other hens.

kingbrit, I'm so sorry for your loss.

mrchicks, thanks. Talked to hubby tonight and that's our plan as soon as my Golden Polish roo recovers from having his hind end feathers ripped off. Poor little guy. In the future, I'll be sure to have a coop and run for my top hats separate from the other breeds. This is my first time raising the Polish and I wasn't expecting this. Learning more each day.

You're welcome and I am glad that your polish are going to heal. My hubby put up a little yard barn kit for my polish. They are such sweet birds, then run to greet me and dash around my feet babbling away to be picked up. I do know that some people have been able to keep polish in a mixed flock, but it just hasn't worked for me.

Got to see daisy the other day. :D and she still looks kinda silly, with a little bit of a bald spot yet... I actually have a pic of it...
the back and top bald spot... It actually looks better than it did before.

Daisy. :) She's such a cutie.. (at least I hope its a "Daisy.". The crest looks pretty round, and not spiky to me..)

But from this angle? I'm not sure. I'm not really seeing anyhting in the tail/saddle feather area.. her crest may just look spiky at this angle due to her bald spot... ?

Are those little pin feathers in Daisy's crest?  She won't be bald for long.  :)  How old is she?

Yes they are. She had her crest all coming in nice, then she flew and hit the top of her head where the bald spot is on a light bulb... What a goof. But now they are filling back in nicely. And I want to say she's about 2 months maybe. Probably more than that, but I lost track of time.

We just lost our pet White Crested Black Polish Bantam last week and we are devastated. She lived with us in our house, would sleep with or near us and would come running when you called her name, we miss her like we would any other member of our family and now I am having trouble finding a replacement.
All the usual places around where I live either don't have any anymore, didn't have any period or are not getting any more. The usual mail order places want a minimum order of 15 to 25 and the one that lets you have just 8 charge an extra $8 per hen chick and $50 for shipping.

I live in Sandpoint, Idaho and wondered if anybody could help me, we miss our little girl terribly, my wife is at home all day and she swears she can hear her every so often and that makes her cry.

Please help us.

Ian
So sorry for your loss. I don't know if it helps, but I think Meyer hatchery lets you order as few as 3 and they have Polish (that is where mine is coming from in a couple of weeks). I think shipping can be quite pricey though. They are here in Ohio. They only do straight run for the bantams but you can get the full sized ones sexed.

Spring has sprung an my polish girl has become quite the gardener....I dig and she's the first on sight to pick the worms OMG so funny....
I have been making a noise every time I find a worm and now when I make that noise all I can see is her Big white Crest bouncing as she takes full speed running at me...God Luv her!
