Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a few chickens appearing in my flock with topknots. I did not know what it was until till little gal hatched and grew up. Both of these young ones have evidence of the polish gene. It just started appearing so it must have been hidden genetics from on of my first roos. I remember when I got him I not only thought he was a she but I thought he had a growth on his head. It turned out to that just just feathers were sticking up. I think he was the contributor of the polish genetics.

Here they both are again a little older. The one on the top just sort of has a stand up hairdo but Sister, the on on the bottom has a full headdress. I have to trim it so she can see.

I am so excited about my new Polish! I have wanted a frizzled Polish for almost two years, and am absolutely giddy. Just wanted to share.

Wow!!

I tried - but she gets off everything I can put on.

She's stubborn. You have to be more stubborn. My Silkie didn't like it either. I put tiny baby socks over her bandaged toes so she had two layers to pick at and finally gave up. I used soft tape to keep the socks on above her ankles which makes it more difficult to reach with their beak. It takes perseverence to find a solution but worth it for the chick's adulthood before those toes become permanently deformed.

My only female polish that I thought was seizing out died plus 2 other of my favorite americauna and aracauna bc of a illness going through my flock this is now 5 birds 2 ducks and 1 polish 2 aracauna or americauna

My two White Crested Black Polish pullets are the sweetest girls ever! They run right up for attention. One was supposed to be a roo, oh well. My three Golden Polish (one pullet and two cockerels) are the most skittish birds in history. Geez, when I finally catch them and hold and pet them, they settle right down. As soon as I put them back down, they scream and run around like I'm going to kill them. Is this a Golden Polish thing?

OOOO-ooo-ooouch! That is harsh. What's the prognosis from the vet before you lose any more? Losing that many without some medical help could wipe out your farm.
