Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big commotion in the coop this morning! My polish hen fluffy finally laid her first egg at 8.5 months! It really is a good size as you can see it compared to one from my standard barred rocks. So have no fear polish owners, it will happen when they're ready. She was very noisy about it.

That is a HUGE polish egg! Did you weigh it?

Is it a double yolk? Mine are way smaller than the Barred rocks!

:woot for Fluffy!

It is a good sized egg she has laid there. Is she a bantam or standard size? I've found my standard size WCB hens lay much bigger eggs than my bantam size.

I totally agree on the they will lay when they are good and ready and not a moment before. Some polish are just not good layers and never will be, it all depends on the individual lady. I have a frizzle hen who has laid only 5 eggs since the summer of 2015. She was quite a sporadic layer to start with but after she went broody (june/July 2015) and hatched her chicks the eggs have pretty much dried up.

So I need some looking eyes Polish chicken folks, the two pics I have posted are of my twin roosters Ernie and Burt,

see the obvious large wattles and v combs? Now the one of the lone chicken is another possible rooster but has no wattles or noticeable comb- never crows and acts like a hen- but has hackles saddle feathers and a typical rooster tail his/her name is Dandelion. I've begun thinking of Dandi as a he/she because I just cannot figure out if I have a hen or too! I'm not new to chickens and with all my others it's very apparent at some point but this little cutie has me stumped. Any opinions? I cannot tell if Dandi has laid an egg because I have a yard of 20 some chickens and 5 peafowl that all love together so whose eggs are whose is not something that I can tell
