polish with swollen red head

Yesterday my polish chickens head was just fine, but today I pulled him out and noticed his head was swollen and red. I'm really concerned because this hasn't happened before. What could it be?

Also, his face is not swollen, only where there is exposed skin between feathers of his crest...

It doesn't look red, irritated, or inflamed. Could it just be that he's a bit flushed from being warm and in the sun on a hotter than usual day?

It could just be the weather. It's not bright red, and I would imagine their heads get a bit hot under those feathers!

His skin is usually very white, and it's definitely inflamed, though. And it has gotten more puffy since this morning. My mom thinks it's a spider bite, maybe?

I was thinking maybe the weather as well, it has been hot and sunny and his feathers are still coming back in from being pecked out...
