Political Ramblings

I have read a lot of laws in my life an that one is confusing as all get out...

I have not read every word cause I want to keep my lunch down but what I got was that any gun that ever changes hands has to be recorded by the cops or a gun store an no none under the age of 21 can have one. So it is back door registration an a ban on 18, 19 an 20 year olds that are legal to carry in many states now from carrying again till they turn 21.

There is quite a bit more but again I want to keep my lunch down...

What this law means is that if you want to transfer ownership of a firearm to an unlicensed person then you need to date the bill of sale before the date the law takes effect.

This post is one of those that gives me hope for America.

One fellow suggested that a ban on standard capacity magazines would give him an excuse to start a business in which he welded 3 10 rounders together and added a longer spring. Made. Of. Win. That attitude is what this country was founded on!

Well if the banks had failed the Government would have still had to pay all the people that lost bank accounts up to the max. FDIC limit. That would come from tax dollars (yep, your dollars and mine). If they had gone under I think the ripple effect would have hurt a lot more taxpayers. And yes it was brought on by some dumb government policies. I as one taxpayer am glad they did TARP, and that it didn't add to the debt.

"Any manipulation of the economy by government is a bad idea" Does that include anti trust laws ? Would we all be better off buying oil from only Standard oil company ?

I can see where you're coming from regarding TARP. I haven't researched it, or the collapse, in a while (school, mock trial, and researching inane gun laws have been restricting my time for economics, so yeah).

Yes, it does. Standard Oil was already losing market share when it was broken up; in fact, there's never been a true monopoly (no competitors and raises prices due to lack of competition) that wasn't aided by the state in some way. The closest, I believe, was ALCOA, way back, when they were the only producer of aluminum. The thing is, they just kept getting more effecient, constantly lowering their costs and their prices, which is why they had no competitors. They were broken up for being extremely effecient, in short.

Which, once again, ticks me off to no end. I REALLY want to get a handgun before any of this stupidity gets through. Thank you, black market. The thing is, if they require registration for private sales, all that will do is cause people to... wait for it... be more discreet when making private sales. The registration and licensing just is not going to happen.

Almost everything that is wrong with legislation in this country can be seen in this example of the bill. Does anyone here really understand what they are saying?
They probably don't even know what they are saying, so how can anyone else?

Makes you wonder...do any of these people know what Prohibition was, and more importantly, what "unprecedented success" it had in preventing the sale of alcohol? And how we are now a drug-free country thanks to the War On Drugs? *snark*

Better do it then.
