Political Ramblings

Illinois was the last state to hold out on Conceal Carry Law .
Any person who lives in this fine state knows it is a Liberal Bastille.
Soon it will be legal for all Law Abiding Citizens to Carry a weapon in the United States.
The people have spoken, the Law has prevailed.
If you are a criminal and decide to engage in criminal acts, the odds are against you, if you engage a citizen who is willing to defend their rights under the constitution
The odds have swung in the favor of the Legally Armed citizen.

I would like see the anti gun folks take their passion and put them towards enforcement the current sentencing laws to convict the Felons who commit the gun crimes,
rather than the courts failing to fallow the sentencing guide lines. and letting the criminals slither through the revolving door of the legal system.

If you don't like the gun laws, then try and change them.
Perhaps you can talk logically to a criminal while he commits a crime against you, or your family.
You can wait for the police.
But to bad mouth NRA or Conservatives. makes as much sense as:
Banning spoons since they caused Rosie O to be fat.

The gun debate will rage on.
Political views are different.
" Hope and Change" has many interpretations.

I have just exercised my rights under several amendments afforded to me, I bet the people who don't know what " The United States Constitution" means could point them out..

Let me know....... I am always open to a logical debate.

Does anyone believe that the owning and carrying of either a hand gun or a semi automatic weapon, esculates violence? You hit me so I pick up a stick. You pick up a bigger stick etc. Surely, this is the same argument as against nuclear proliferation? I am confused as to what the job of the police is, if it is not to protect society? I thought police took an oath to uphold the law and keep the peace?

If the law of the land says I can bear arms who are you or anyone to say what I can own or not own? If I use them for my pursuit of happiness and am responsible for them why should I surrender that right? That would be like being punished for a crime I may commit and I am sure Capvin would agree that would be denial of due process as I beleive you must have some evidence of a crime before you can be charged with one. But then again some would have that right taken away also.

If you took the time to read an entire post you would understand I am not against guns or suggesting any gun control. You are just making things up so you can argue. We don't even disagree. You just like to argue so much that you've created an alternate reality for yourself.

This.

If you believe that guns promote less violence, compare the homicide rates between two similar sized cities - New York and London. One with lots of guns, one that doesn't support the citizens carrying weaponry.

I think that violent and unstable people are violent and unstable regardless of their access to weapons. Where there is a will there is a way. But, I think certain kinds of guns allow someone to kill a lot of people in a very short about of time with virtually no skill, knowledge or planning - this to me is an escalation of violence.

I also think that while a crazy person could most certainly kill me with a knife, it is rather hard to accidentally kill your own son with one in a parking lot.

No I do not believe owning an carrying a gun escalates anything. To legaly draw and/or fire a gun I or someone arround me has to be in iminant bodaly harm or someone has to be committing a forcible felony. You can not escalate beyond that.

The argument against nuclear proliferation is dumb too. One group has them an another does not. The group that has them does not want the other group to have them but they want to keep theres...

LEOs take a oath to protect society as a whole an to uphold the law. That is not the same thing as stopping crime an protecting you as an individual.

I have seen one case of an accidental shooting in the 13 years I was in EMS. I live in a community that everyone has guns. Sure it happens but it is rare. So rare it sometimes makes national news. I have seen lots of people accidentally killed or injured by tractors, cars, knife, glass hot water, you name it. None of that makes the news cause it is so common that it is not news.. Peoples presumption of danger is twisted by the news. "Guns are deadly cause it is on the news" When in reality, the fact that it is on the news means it is so rare that its not a big deal. Cars on the other hand a safe cause those deaths dont make the news when in reality the car is the most dangerous thing on this planet at this time.

I'll agree with that. I also think it should be harder to get a driver's license and that DUI laws should be MUCH stricter.
