poll: are you legal or an outlaw?

I would love to see pics of your set up.

Legal with 3 coops in the middle of the city. No HOA though.

Our neigborhood , located with the Agricultural Residential Zoning District, was designed and remains an equestrian neighborhood. We have bridle paths, not alleys behind our yards; we have a neighborhood park that includes large stalls & 2 lit arenas. Our CC&Rs require that our animals be penned, caged or cooped or otherwise controlled so that they do not wander or fly about the neigborhood. Swine are specifically disallowed; numbers of other livestock are regulated by city-designated limits, which is based upon the size of the individual lot. The city doesn't specify numbers of poultry in the Ag District. Our residents have enjoyed their horses, cows, goats, sheep, chickens, guineas, turkeys, ducks, geese, pigeons and even peacocks for the last 38 years. The HOA next to us is similar; it sports a few emu and llamas/alpacas (I don't know enough to tell the difference). There are also several other similar neighborhoods nearby without the HOAs.

That is so cool. If I may ask how much land do you have?

Lots in our neighborhood range in size from .4 to 1.5 acres. Ours is .6 acre. The adjoining HOA has lots ranging from 3-5 acres. The non-HOA neighborhoods range in size from about .75 to 5 acres per lot (there are several of these neighborhoods, each having its own standard lot sizes).

Im Illegal but have got away with it now for several years, the neighbor's dogs make so much noise that it covers mine up. The neighbors also have let there houses run down, so unless someone happens to stumble upon my coop, I think that i will be ok. I hope!

We also own some property on the otherside of town, and I can hear a bantam rooster crow all the time, plus I have a friend that raises pekin ducks just a few blocks away, so we're not the only ones!

Here in Salt Lake City proper, I'm completely legal. Around here it's actually the folks outside the city in the unincorporated county that are having to fight to get legal.

Since I can only have 5 chickens I am gonna say 5 legal and 1 outlaw...I hate uneven numbers....I don't think one will hurt I hope lol (none as of yet. still trying to decide what kinds of fuzzybutts I want)

well...
my plan is for "semi legal" the spot we want to put it is not legal however according to the ordinances we can have up to 5 on the land we have...

thats as long as they dont "bother" the neighbors...which is ridiculously vauge...
1 neighbor doesnt mind...
the other hasnt said anything when mentioned...
and the 3rd well i dont even know if theres anyone living there lol.

theres also talk about some ordinance changes within the next year that might make us illegal but yeah...

the coop will be added onto the shed built to match and "blend" the run will be behind it, were up on a hill out of site of the street and 3 months of the year VERY secluded surrounded by bushes and were fenced...
so...hopefully we'll be ok.

illegal. no livestock allowed ordinance in town but if they continue to not adopt this book of laws that is kinda the standard for ohio corporations i will hopefully be legal
