I dont think it is wrong at all. I killed a Dom roo and I was fine with it. I m just curious to see how the attitudes on this board differ.
Sunnychooks- I feel the same way

What exactly do you mean by "immoral"?

I don't like doing it, but it is a necessity. I prefer not to let my birds suffer and I cannot afford to raise a deformed bird.

Not immoral in the least. In fact we had one for dinner tonight and he was delicious. When he was alive we treated him with kindness and with respect. We gave him the best life we could and tonight he gave back to us.

All of my animals get babied and are pets...dogs, cats, and chickens. But I certainly don't think it would be immoral to kill one if it was done for a good reason and was done quick and humanely. Now if I took joy in killing one, I feel that would be immoral. I don't even think it would be immoral to kill one of my dogs if I needed the food (meat) badly; thankfully I don't ever see me having to do that

If they are too ill or injured to cure or cure without bringing great pain, then no, it is necessary. Luckily, I have not (knock on wood) been graced with the task of ending a life at my hands. Do I think killing for human consumption is immoral? No. It is a way of life. Would I do it? No. My chickens are kept for many qualities, eating is not one of them. Never has been. Probably never will be.

I think doing it for fun would be wrong... but for food, or to prevent suffering... I'm okay with that, although I am totally unable to do the actual deed. even facing a suffering animal, i just can't do it. i can call my friend over to do it for me... but I can't actually do it myself.
