Polymer Clay

This is a fun thread! I make dollhouse miniatures in 1:12 and 1:24 scales. Some things I make out of polymer clay but I use many different mediums. My favorite is making something from an item usually considered "trash."

Although, I'm a member here, I didn't even think to look here first when trying to find instructions for sculpting a chicken. Silly me. My next miniature project is going to be a chicken coop. The chickens I've seen here are great!

I would love to see that!!

I had some time to play today and got my mini chicken coop finished. I still need to make the run and some of our more exotic chickens but I made mini versions of three of our hens - Aurora and Electra (Red Stars) and one of the Spice Girls (Buff Orpingtons that I can't tell apart yet, LOL.)

Gorgeous! Chickens are a blast to make in clay. They can be as detailed or as simple as you like. Your coop is so realistic, I love it!

I've been busy with clay too recently... a dragon wrapped around a bottle with a miniature bonsai growing out of it. I'm making lots more and selling them-

Your dragon is very cool!

Thanks for your kind words about my mini coop. I have to do some serious thinking about how to replicate my Golden Polish chickens when I add the run. I'm not sure how I'm gonna pull that one off. LOL

I did a remake of the purchased rooster to make a mini Fred, my Golden Polish cockerel. Now I know what I need to do to make the female, Wilma. She will be made of polymer clay.

I never have. This one started as a purchased resin rooster. I repainted it and added the feathered crest. This one gave me some confidence to try a more complicated one from polymer clay. My first hens were pretty basic as you can see from the earlier post.

I looked for mini chickens when I started this project. They were either so simple that I could easily make them myself, mass produced ones in nonrealistic colors, or outrageously expensive. If I am happy with my experiments maybe I will try adding some to my shop on zibbet. ;-)

Ooh fun! I tried making canes for the first time yesterday and I was pretty happy with them. I made a blood orange and a watermelon one. I'll get pics tomorrow. Do you make canes?
