Pomeranian Goose Breed Thread

Still chasing new stock for my flock here. I might be traveling to MA either way. Sounds like there are two folks there with them. I plan to attend the No East Poultry Congress so I will attempt to negotiate a pick up from there. Anyone else going?

Hello pomeranian owners!
I recently adopted a pomeranian goose named Pomegranate from a rescue.
I was wondering if there is anything different about this breed that I should know? Or that just might be fun facts =)

Ive bad memories of pomegrante fruits exploding on my white t-shirts in croatia .
Anyway just to let it out there

LOL they are pretty stain-y
My grandparents just harvested a bunch from their tree and my resourceful grandpa found a nifty way to get the seeds out that is a little less time consuming so we have been enjoying both the goose AND the fruit lol

Hello and congratulations on adopting your Pomeranian! As to differences, I would say other than in physical characteristics, their aren't many. Mine tend to be pretty laid back when compared to my Toulouse pair and hardly ever aggressive: Even then, it is only during breeding season to protect their mate or nest. They are "all bark" and for the most part "no bite" here. Although, I did remove a broody goose off her nest last season. She was fine when I picked her up and got her half way out of the barn when she turned her head and latched onto the end of my nose: OUCH....lol.

on the nose! Oh my! That would be pretty painful! Pom hasn't gotten me yet, as of now he knows better. I'm in Arizona, the geese owners around here say or bedding season starts in October and ends around February so I may miss it this year, my little Toulouse girl is only 6 months but Pom is 3 years. So far sop good, but he is a loud mouth! Sure is gorgeous though! I'm crazy for his pretty blue eyes! I would love to see them hatch done pretty little babies one day

I have begun putting my geese into their breeding pens for part or all of a day this week to get them transitioned before their hormones kick in. It helps to keep them from hunting down grass where they shouldn't as well.

My Poms hormones have already kicked in. In fact I have already gotten 6 eggs out of them.. Too early for Ohio. Don't know whether to try hatching them or not. Hate to raise goslings in doors as they are so messy.
