Pomeranian Goose Breed Thread

Yeah they're one colour apparently the gander was a two tone Pom and mother white. The clutch were mixed we debated this a few weeks ago I'm no expert but interested in what you think

Oh, well, where did you get them from? Pomeranians usually have the color on their head and their back. At least that's what I thought until this point...

Lol yeah me too! I got them from a poultry breeder near Linz, I'm in Austria. There seem to be quite a few who breed the two tone Poms but not so many,as I can see, that breed Saddlebacks. The Saddlebacks are an American breed so I guess stands to reason they're not so common here.

Weird.

Cas is filling out so pretty. Just curious if his bill and feet haven't turned orange by now does that mean they'll stay pinkish? I'm hoping! And for the eggsperts on this breed... How close is his coloring to what it should be?

Hey Pom experts! Cassy is all grown up (she'll be a year old April 25th!) and I have a lot of people telling me I should consider showing her. I'm looking for your opinions.

I'm having trouble uploading photos here right now, but you can find us on facebook as Even More. I have albums full of her there! If anyone here has the time, please take a look. I would really appreciate any opinions.

Also for those of you who breed Poms, I am going back to the farm I got her from last year again this April. I am getting another female and a male. He has greys and buffs, so should I get two more greys? Or one of each? Or two buffs? I'm still learning about Pom genetics! Thanks for any help or advice!

Get one of each!!!!

From what I remember I think Cassy has good structure, but I think the color patterns are wrong?? I think Poms have to have certain patterns, like covering certain parts of the shoulders, going down certain parts of the head I THINK. May be wrong. Look up the breed standard and that should tell you!

Thanks! After a few molts, her color is much better. Her bill, legs and feet are a perfect pink/flesh tone, no orange at all. Her eyes are bright blue. When viewed from above, her wings/shoulders form an almost perfect heart shape of dark grey feathers lightly edged in a cream color. She has a single lobe, and no white around her bill at all, minus a single small "tear drop" under her left eye. She weighs 13.6 pounds (as of her 1 year check up a little over a week ago-though she won't actually be a year old until April). The only "show standard" mark offs I can see (from what I can find on breed standards) would be the single dark feather that comes in with every molt on her right wing, and a few scattered dark feathers in her tail? But again, I'm far from an expert!

If you get a chance, I have a bazillion pictures of her (past and present) on her FB page. Just look up Even More, the profile pic is even her if it helps!

As for breeding, I am thinking a buff male and another grey female. If I'm thinking right genetics wise, the buff is sex linked recessive so I'd get 100% grey females and 100% buff males who carry the grey gene? Is that right?

I think you would actually get gray males split for buff and all buff females??? Since in geese it's the males that are ZZ and the sex linked genes are carried on the Z, so both Z's would have to have the buff gene. Now if you got a gray male split for buff and a buff female you would get 100% buff males. I think.
