Pompom Duck has her eyes infected

I find that antibiotics upset their tummies and can cause diarrhea. I'm sure it will get better when she is off of them.
Never had to give them antibiotics orally before!
Mr. Limpy received Vitamins and painkillers, so i know how to get a pill down into a duck, but that is also dependent on the duck. Iris' throat seems to have some unusual abilities, like inverse suction that propels pills straight into your face for example.

So, tonight it will be really cold here, -4° (25F) but tomorrow it is supposed to be sunny and warmer 9° (48F) and i have to do some work in the garden - so the idea is to take Iris with me outside and either have her sitting in her laundry basket or in the garden on the ground.
I hope she will enjoy that.

I'm sure she will, even if she complains the entire time.

Actually she is very brave, enduring to be humon-handled the whole day without big complaints. Only when it comes to swallowing ½ tablet of doxycycline she fights like crazy. I licked on one of the tablets and that stuff is bitter like Quinine. - Can ducks taste bitter? I know they can taste sweet and sour…

Another question: How can i trim her toenails? - As she is not running around much since almost two weeks, her toenails have grown to a formidable length and they are sharp as daggers. Normally the ducks just use them up, i never had to trim anybodies toe-nails…

I use dog nail clippers, but I've also used human toenail clippers and one of those battery powered pedicure things. Just go very slowly. It's easy to cut too short and cause then to bleed. I always have styptic powder close by in case bleeding starts. Corn starch can work, too.

Thank you very much! - [dog] nail clipper - hmm - i hate to use those even on my nails! I was more thinking about using something abrasive like a small piece of sandpaper or a file…

I always get a kick out of you saying it will be really cold at -4. I think that's the high for here tomorrow, lol!

You need to get one of those duck harnesses. Take a duck with you into town. Start being referred to as The Crazy Old German Duck Man.
