Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

tropical chick, you may just want to lower your roost and inch or two, my roost is only about 3-3.5" above the tray, just enough to get my hand underneath. In that way, the poo pretty much just drops straight down and won't hit the sides. It's all about trajectory.

I know this is really old but it just struck a cord with me. We had a guinea pig when our youngest son was a toddler. He learned to speak Guinea before he spoke anything else. Everytime you rattled the celephane on a head of lettuce they would start squeeking at each other.

Is there any good reason to not just cover the entire coop floor with aglime instead of just under the roosts? During winter days they will congregate on the side of the coop opposite the roosts and poo on the floor. I was thinking this would make the entire coop easier to clean.

Thanks to this thread we love the poop board under the roost!!

My current, temporary, coop is all pdz on the floor. It had a poop board, but it was inaccessible an made it had for the girls to get to the perch.

New coop will have sand and pdz mix on the floor.

In my coop I use pine wood shavings on the floor about 4-6" deep. I also use them in my nest boxes. I use Sweet PDZ in my poop tray...best stuff EVER!!

But that didn't answer my question.

I did though. Well, except that I don't know aglime.

As for using the pdz, or stall sweet, all over the floor of the whole coop, the only draw back is price. beyond that, nope, no reason you can't cover the floor in it.

I do, I toss in the DE and scoop the coop like a litter box.

Although limestone is a base rock, calcium carbonate chicken poo is high in ammonia... acid..... so maybe it will degrade the aglime. my imagination just filled you co with fizzy pop rock candy! lol.

Construction grade sand is $3 for a 50 pound bag at lowes.....toss in a little pdz and some DE. cheap.

Chicken poo fizzy pop rock candy, lol, now there is a visual. ag lime is pretty much the same as barn lime. I just want to make sure there isn't a hazard to use it in the entire coop. I think I'll give it a go this spring.
