Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

I also just finished reading all 15 pages and am so grateful I found this thread! Our 14 chicks came this week and are in our brooder in the shop. We are starting this weekend on our coop and this was one of the areas where I wasn't sure what I was going to do. Trish, you have answered all my questions! Thank you so much! We are building a 10'x10' coop with 2'x10' of it used for storage. I already know what wall I'll be using your system on. My shelf will be a little wider to incorporate two parallel roosts. Thanks! Rose

Just went into the coop and cleaned the poop board shelf and it was so quick and easy. I was sick for 2 days so I couldnt get out there but it literally took about 5 minutes tops. Tomorrow I will have to attend to the floor which is sand and some pine shavings, not going to use the shavings again....I need to fashion a floor scoop/rake so if anyone has any ideas I am all ears!

I have been waiting and waiting until I could post pictures of my poops boards. I used Trisha"s idea under one to place food and water. Then I came up with my own idea for under the other... a brooder/seperation pen!

Here they are...

Sorry the pictures is crooked.

And the second one...

The PDZ granulated is now on them and the chickens are moved in. Thanks so much again for posting this thread!

I love cleaning the boards- so easy!

For my floor rake I simply use a stall fork that I attached hardware cloth over (with zip ties). Works great and sifts sand real easy!
Good Luck.

I just read this whole thread to:)) thanks for all the great ideas/tips..I am wondering something and hopefully some will comment.

Has anyone put their nesting boxes UNDER their poop boards? As in the pic above of the brooder area, I'm wondering if to work on space, if nesting boxes could be put under the poop boards? Of course allowing enough over hang of the poop board so none get's 'in' the boxes??

Comments on that set up?
Thanks
Diane
