poop stuck on my chickens bottom (large area) ! help what do I do?

I'm so glad I ran across this thread! I've been bringing my friend's chicks in the house to wash their butts with warm water and it's getting a bit old :/ I'll be just taking the poop clumps off now and putting a bit of Vaseline on their rears! Thank goodness our 4 haven't had that issue and my friend will be taking hers home in a couple weeks!

Try some ACV in their drinking water, cleans up 'pasty butt'....1T ACV with the 'mother' in l gal water. Change daily. I do FF = health benefits (there's a thread), less & no stinky poop that's ALOT firmer (except for the cecal) .

Is this a normal thing that happens then and nothing to be concerned about? I've been giving my adults 15% ACV in their water since they came and noticed some of them have started to have poop dried in to their their vent feathers over the past month I thought at first they had worms which was causing diarrhea so I wormed them with verm-x but it still came back, when I'm cleaning out their coop though the droppings are solid it's only through the day if I saw one poop it would be very runny, I also feed them fermented grain

I have had the same problem! But my chicken had more poop on her feathers since she has a lot of feathers. Try wiping it off with warm water, but make sure to not touch the chicken's skin. If it is stuck, use tweezers of scissors to try to remove the poop. Hope this helps!

I had a sizeable poop-fluffy-feather-ball on my Barred Plymouth. Pulling seemed untenable so had my daughter hold the hen while I trimmed it off - glad I did since I could feel cutting at least 20-30 feathers.
I’d like my hens to drink more water - but keeping them free range doesn’t help since all they focus on scratching dirt and forget abt feeders/water.

I just pull it off along with any feathers quick and easy, just yank them out and then there will be no more problems in the future. sure they give a little squak, but doing all that washing and stuff takes forever and makes more of a mess than you might figure. I prefer less feathers in the rear area for health and sanitary reasons not to mention it helps with fertility. But I am sure those with named pet chickens would prefer the whole giving it a warm scented bubble bath and a cup of tea afterwards treatment LOl it's all good whichever way you decide is best. keep her vent area treated with a salve or bag balm to prevent this from happening again and make sure she is drinking, dehydration is the main cause for cluster butt.

I really think that to jank them out like that is a BIT Rough, you sound like you don't
give a dam about the health of your Chickens!

Thanks everyone!!!!!! am new at this and at this forum. Great help! what is salve or bag balm to treat her with ???? is that medicated? Is it like vaseline? ... and the poop spot is larger than you think! will it bleed if I pull it off? it looks like it is stuck to skin.

I held her while my his but carefully cut away the clump. It was huge.
