I do believe I am finally speechless. And it's a good thing, otherwise the moderators would be sending me straight to Coventry.

NO creature should have to live that way. And should I end up that way, I only can hope that they have the mercy in their soul to put me out of the reach of such misery.

I am glad im not the only rooster-pamperer!!!

Yes, Arlo sleeps with me. I get up in the night to give him water. Just because he cant walk doesn't mean he has no quality of life. he is a happy boy. I'm funny looking & limp badly but that doesn't mean I should be destroyed. He coos & trills non stop, loves to snuggle, he is very happy.

Sorry but that is just disgusting.....and I regularly share my bed with several cats so it's not like I'm anti bed sharing with an animal. They don't poop in the bed for me to lay in it.

A rooster is not on the same level as a human so to compare yourself with a crippled rooster makes no sense to me.

I'm funny looking and limp badly, too. But that doesn't mean I'm going to sleep in chicken poop. I'd rather not have a house chicken, but if I did, he'd have a cage to sleep in. AND he'd have water and CHICKEN food available, not hot dogs.

Chickens with poopy/crusty butts have an issue - an issue that needs to be investigated and treated, not just dealt with daily. The dirty butt is the sign of parasites, poor feeding habits or systemic illness.

thank you for telling me about the parasites, I'll have it immediately checked out. (and it is rather nasty, you have a good point. He's got towels that are 3 times weekly chucked into the laundry!!

HAPPY THOUGHTS TO EVERYONE!!

(I refer to this precious feathery person as my son, and my maiden name was Feather, so I feel justified in being absurdly silly!!)
