Porcelain Silkie Thread

Hey! Just popped in to show you a couple pictures... I've got some of my Porcelains on this page... http://indigoegg.us/February-March2011.html and there is a boy on the previous Dec/Jan page... top view... I got them by accident. I got the big fat hen from a Black X Splash and the little ones by the cat from a Splash X Splash and Blue pen. I don't know about Porcelain genetic coloring, but I got more babies from a friend of mine that came from Porcelain X Lavender or Porcelain X Porcelain and they look like these do... maybe a little more lavender in them... Don't know when I'll be back here, but you can always email me from my site. Got a CUUUUUUTE little Porcelain boy from a completely different coop now... ??? Cute as pie.. round as can be with a huge chest and top knot! Got a cute Porcelain boy that is probably a brother to the one shown in a previous post that is cute as can be... Pecos. Y'all have a blessed day! I'm hatching everything from those coops. LOL! I'm addicted... Bobbi of www.IndigoEgg.US

I thought "isabel" was really dilute and "porcelain" accounted for the more splashy type birds.

Isabel is lavender diluted buff. Yes, it is really dilute, but like buff, an isabel should be all one colour. Porcelain shows both lavender and isabel and in a true porcelain, also has white mottling. Isabel is a colour; porcelain is a pattern.

Think of it like this. You have a thin, see-through sheet that is lavender coloured (chicken lavender, not a purple tint)--something like voile or chiffon. You have a pure buff bird and a well-marked mille fleur bird. Toss that see-through sheet over them and it dilutes their apparent colouring: the buff becomes isabel, the mille fleur becomes porcelain.

So I have a question, I have had a nice lady only 30 mins. away from me and has a NICE Porcelain pullet for sale. I like her alot but I am not starting a porcelain breeding program I want to start a Lav. Silkie breeding. So my question is What do you breed with Porcelain Silkies do you breed Porcelain X Porcelain or do you breed Porcelain X Lav. or Porcelain to buff?

Not sure what to do?
