one of my chicks is fluffed up and not as happy as yesterday.

I am thinking cocci, found a patch of runny, bloody stool.

there are 3 other sibs with it and it's mom.

should I isolate baby?
will the others get it? or are some birds just more susceptible then others? (weaker)

should I sprinkle DE in the run (food grade stuff)

It's my favorite baby. don't want to lose it.

I'm giving yogurt, cayenne, DE, vit. E. will that help?

or are meds required at this point?

I would put your little one on an antibiotic made to take out coccidia, if that's what it is. In fact, I would treat all my birds as a matter of course so that they wouldn't catch it. Odd that you think its coccidia as most chick feed has a low level of antibiotics to prevent it. I would also feed yogurt to help the digestion.

Good luck and let me know how it goes. Maybe someone with more experience will speak up?

okay, it's a protazoa.

how do I help my baby.???? that's all I want to know about. any tricks for treatment.

is this reversable? I'm kind of in an urgency state here. I want to help it before it gets too bad.

thanks.

thankyou, that was an interesting read.

I am going to look for the cordi tomorrow.

I have been feeding it yogurt, with Vit. E mixed in. Ihope it can be fixed. it's such a pretty baby.

it is still eating and drinking and it's still flighty when I get near it, but just looks the part, fluffed up, droopy eyes.

it hasn't given up on me yet. I hope it can hold on.
