Possible Eggbound Hen--Camilla my best layer--rip

We have a 1.5 year old SLW that is eggbound, we have oiled her vent and tried to push a lubed finger into her vent but the egg is really close but she cannot extrude it. We have massaged her under belly toward her vent to try and help her get it out and used warm water to relax her but she she is in the nesting box and get's into the egg laying position but nothing, then lays down and closes her eyes while what it sounds like a moaning. How much pressure can we put on the egg without breaking it or can anyone recommend other options to help the poor hen loosen the egg to get it out? Please help.

UPDATE

Our hen finally passed the egg, but she doesn't sound right she sounds like a moaning cat would, not herself, she is normally pretty loud. Her tail is straight up and is walking around okay a little fluffed up but she just doesn't sound like normal, anyone have experience with issues as this?

My best layer has died, she had all the symptoms of egg peritonitis and was labored breathing and sitting on her butt, she was full of fluid and all this happened in about 8 hours, I'm devostated and broken hearted. I know I'm not the only one who has dwelt with this issue but I'm dumbfounded how fast she died, she had a very hard time laying today and the next thing she was struggyling to breath so she had to be put down, I'm exhausted and mentally tired of burying my chickens-anyone with any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm sorry the link did not work, but I was not thinking straight when I posted last night, the shock of the entire loss was just unbelievable, crying over a chicken seems to some crazy, but when they are your pets for years it's as if you lost someone in your family.

Here she is, she was the smallest of the bunch but she laid all winter and never took a break you could always count of Camilla for an egg, we will miss her tremendously.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost one also, we have never had any medical issues before and to be all of the sudden has sent a shockwave through our family, our birds are dear to us and they are treated better than most animals. I also grieve for those who end up doing the culling, no one understands how hard it is to be the one who ends the life of one of your birds even though we know it's for the benefit of the bird who is suffering. Time heals all wounds, but Camilla will certainly be missed in our flock, and her sister is mourning her passing too. Hugs for all of us who have dwelt with the loss of one of your birds.
