Good morning, all! It's going to be a pretty day today, so I'll try and get home before it gets too dark to take pictures. This VA weather is crazy. It's been in the 30s and 40s for two weeks now, and all of a sudden it's 75 for the next few days!

Stay warm with this storm coming in. -14 here in colorado this morning. What does everyone do with their quail when it gets this cold? I moved mine to the garage two days ago in preparation for the storm. My chickens seem to be doing fine with it so far.

Good morning all from freezing New Mexico! Not quite as cold as you guys up in Colorado, but single digits coming tonight. Right now it is in the teens. Snow is falling right now.

Samsr, -14 is pretty cold. As long as your birds, quail and chickens, have a place to get out of all rain, snow and wind, completely, they can survive brutally cold temps. My cut off for using the heat lamp is -10. At least for my group of old birds. I only turn on a 75 watt brooder lamp so it doesn't put out too much heat. I also use heated water bases so I am not hauling water around the place every hour.

Make sure to bed your quail in with something....grass hay, straw or wood shavings. Keep the feet warm. Birds lose heat thru the feet. And can die from chilling thru the feet. So offer up something to snuggle into at these cold temps.

Other than that, they should be fine as long as they are not too young, old or sick.
