Congrats on the new babies there Keepsmum!!!!! Cheyenn you can be going into "lockdown" this weekend already with the quail?? can you?? Been nice up here so far this week most of the snow is gone and just ice. This city kills me I can drive all over the county gravel roads and trails in 2 wheel drive as soon as you get to the city limits you have to put it into 4-wheel drive just to get around. Got all of the rest of my quarterlies and end of the year payroll taxes and w-2's done today. YEH HAPPY HAPPY DAY. Need to squeeze the hens some more just barely keeping ahead of the demand. Sold 9 dozen yesterday and another 5 today. Down to 3 dozen lg/ex-lg in the fridge. and 2 doz Jumbo's. Nothing older then last Saturdays lay around here. I had one customer complain that she couldn't peel her hard boiled eggs with-out loosing most of the white. I told her that 'cuz the eggs are to fresh. Let them sit on the counter at room temp for 2 or 3 days and then hard boil them. WORKS like a charm. Sweet dreams all off to bed.

Hahahaha yep eggs that are fresh are impossible to peel without dismantling them! Im learning that too.
Got 3 healthy looking babies, 1 very sleepy one, and one assist that Im pretty sure is temporary.
Thry all have the same markings, the roo is Chocolate coloured, the hens are white with brown patches. (Can you tell I have No idea what the colours are called!)

Yep, lockdown is on the 25th. They've been in the incubator since the 11th. I can't wait!

i candled my eggs yesterday without taking them out of the brooder and most have blood veins. since ive never used a turner before im not sure if its right. seems like the veins are running up to the air sac. and for some reason i didnt check the air sac.Cheyen that has gone very fast for us but mine are dragging. lol . Twisted acres, next time you boil a fresh egg try peeling it while its still hot. seems to go a lot easier to me.and isnt there something about vinegar or something you add to the water?

thats a lot of eggs a day.

my mother sent me to town today to mail off a big diamond ring to my sister for her birthday. her and i share the day. my fathers b-day was the same too. she gave me the change from 100 dollars after mailing it for mine. im not living right.

i spent it all on chicken food.

they shouldnt get hungry for a while.

My cat that had kittens is an absolute mess right now. She's got a cold, and gave it to one of the little ones. Can't give them any meds because they're nursing. Hopefully it'll blow over in the next week or so.
