Possible Guinea Eggs in "Quail" Batch?

you ever have cookie coolers? probable wrong name, they are wire on short legs. i put on on top of the bator wet a hand towel and draped it over. no change at all. i can place little pieces of sponge in there between the eggs but they dry out so fast

yeah, cooling rack thing for baking. I'm sure as long as you have all the troughs filled they will be fine...

Well, starkasm and I have messaged a bit, and it looks like I might be getting some chukars soon! Not sure what to do about my quail situation now. I think you guys should vote on it. Should I get quail, too?

Nope. He's got coturnix quail, and I'm hatching button. I don't know if they'll get along or not, and if they don't I'll have to find somewhere to put him. I'm also not sure how many roos I'll get when/if I try hatching again, so I'd rather wait and see.

chukars are pretty birds. i have only seen them once. are they a type of quail too? i put my eggs in lock down day 17

Chukars are adorable! Apart from the chicks I hatched a few months ago, I've only seen them in person once, too. They're not quail, though, they're a type of partridge. Close enough to quail, I guess.

What do Chukars look like? I'm from cape cod, people don't have fancy birds here. Just seagulls who hang out around peoples' houses and bother the chickens


On a side note, I saw a picture of a gorgeous bird today. Apparently they're big and really aggressive though. Hey, maybe I'll hatch some of those... That'll keep the seagulls away

I watched a video on YouTube of quail laying eggs and the guy had a bunch of buttons in with 2 courtnix (sp?) So I think you could house them together, but check for signs of aggression etcs.
