Possible Guinea Eggs in "Quail" Batch?

I've never had finches, but I know sometimes parrots go neurotic and pick all their feathers off. Was she acting weird recently? Was her body intact, or did it look like something had a go at it?

No, she was acting healthy and normal. Literally ALL of her feathers were gone, I don't think she would've done that.

I looked it up a bit, but you may want to post this somewhere else for better advice (I think BYC has a finches page). Was she molting? Was she getting enough calcium? I think you should try the finches page.

I think I will. She was not molting, and there is a cuttle bone available to them.

*sigh* I'm really worried about her mate. What if he starts a fight? I can't afford that with my other pairs nesting. I might have to pull him out tomorrow...

never heard of a bird being plucked bald over night. you have them outside? wonder if plucked or chewed off. some type of insect? weird, sorry for your loss

Yeah, they're outside. I didn't see any signs of pests, but you may be right. I'll keep researching it.

i cant find anything. only thing i can think of is bugs unless you hadnt seen it in a while and this didnt happen overnight. i would treat for red mites just to be on the safe side

my eggs are on day 17, the little bantams normally hatch on day 18. they are all still kicking, all 30 of them. geez, what was i thinking? But i cant get the humidity up so maybe not. i have all the channels full a strip of sponge and a tea cup with water and another strip of sponge in it to act like a wick. only thing different this hatch is that non-skid liner, i put in the bottom so the wouldnt knock the eggs as bad. and possibly help their legs. plus we are supposed to have rain tonight and the air is heavy. Cheyan, did you get those quail??
