Lol, I don't know how the seller would feel about that.

ya, im probably making all the pig lovers mad anyway.lol i personally have never been around them . wouldnt be able to eat bacon anymore.

Mmm fat piggy, just had home kill bacon and eggs for lunch. Was a tamworth, wild cross. Smoky.
Comet is one of Father Christmas' reindeer...naughty granny!

Had the kiddlets pet rabbit at the vet, fly strike. Who knew! Well Im not her favorite human now, but shes clean and let me put her antibiotics on this morning. Poor girl. Been away for a week and thought she was depressed. Trying to tempt her to eat now.
My quail babies are all feathery! Several 'look' manly. Much bulkier around the shoulders..someone keeps making rooster ish noises... time for the great outdoors and another learning curve to sex them!
Hot here, lots of work on, best I cease procrastination and hustle! Post lunch nana nap other wise

Stay warm!

I'd ordered all brown Coturnix quail because they are easy to sex but I seem to have gotten a mix. Grrrrr!

I had to help one of the chicks a couple of times. It managed to zip for the most part, but only the shell, not the membrane. Now I've got a sleeping baby nursing on my lap and can't tell if the chick got out of its shell!

Haha, do potbellies make good food? Seems to me they're nothing but fat! :P

Oh yuck, this reminds me of something from years ago. We used to go to a couple of livestock auctions with some friends. At one auction I got to talking with someone who was selling a potbelly boar. She said he was their foundation sire, and from the way she talked I could tell she thought he should go for some money. We were cashing out (I was selling some excess roosters or had bought something or other), and she found out he sold for a quarter. I thought maybe that was auction slang for $25, but no, it meant 25 cents. He was bought by some guy that obviously meant to eat him. As they were trying to load him in the guy's car, I tried to buy him, but the guy didn't speak English and I didn't have that much money on me. I think I offered him $10. (I didn't really want him, just couldn't stand the thought of something that had been a pet being betrayed like that and butchered.) I don't know if the seller realized what had happened. Anyway even as he was turning me down I think we were both assessing how much more than $10 worth of meat was on him. Maybe if I had offered enough that the guy could buy the same amount of pork for the price he would have let him go, but I didn't.

We had one and I love bacon. I guess it's the same as the chicken people that don't eat their own. (I'm in that category too.)

You mean a mix of types of quail or different colors of coturnix? Good luck with the feathered and diapered babies. :)

Thank you! I meant different colors of Coturnix. I'm probably crazy for adding a bunch of baby birds to the things I already can't keep up with! The diapered baby just learned to crawl and the 4-year-old can't seem to remember to keep her scissors off the floor!

Lol and sympathy. ? Mine were 15mths apart, small caught up way too fast. I put big in a play pen with her tiny, lethal toys. Stopped small wrecking Bigs towers.

I have mixed quail babies .. some are making surprised manly noises..birds Do have facial expressions .. :lau
