Possible gut obstruction

Sorry. I'm having internet issues. I see your earlier posts now. They took forever to load.

Did she maybe eat something she shouldn't have? If she's only eating chick starter, grit isn't usually needed.

Did someone recommend using Metamucil? I can't imagine that would help to add more solids to a crop that isn't moving, but I've never dealt with a crop issue on a tiny chick.

ETA: I could see using psyllium for sour crop, maybe. Not so much for impacts? Idk. Not my forte.

Probably. I let them outside once a day and there may have been a time where she got something with too many fibers.

Yeah someone suggested it. Other than that I’ve given her: coconut oil, papaya, apple cider vinegar

Did you give a crop massage along with the Coconut oil? Can't leave out that important step.

A crop massage must be done in a circular motion, at a downward angle to push the contents in to the stomach.

Oh, I am so sorry! What a weird thing to happen! That's the hardest part abourajning chickens.

How's the chick with the impacted crop doing? I'm glad you wee able to find a vet.

Quite well! She’s nice and big now. I was able to quickly find two more bantam chicks since she’s been stressed out. She has been used to calling out and getting another bird to respond. They’re frizzles.

Since they’re already a week old, but much smaller than her, they don’t trust either me or her. That seems to make her a little down, so I’m going to try giving her more attention and keep getting them used to one another bit by bit.
