Our two chicks (3 week old silkies) have started play fighting quite regularly, where they jump up at eat other with their feet and flap their wings.

Does this mean we have 2 roosters?! I can only keep them if they are hens and I've grown so attached already ☹️

Do hens play like this too?

Pullets play like that, also. Chest butting is one tiny clue that would tend to give you reason to suspect you have cockerels. It's far from being conclusive evidence, though.

By age ten weeks, the cockerels will be beginning to get their rooster plumage, so you should be able to tell the pullets from the cockerels at that point.

Thank you! There's been no chest butting yet. I'll have to wait and see whether they are roosters when it's a bit more obvious :)

Silkies are harder to sex early than many others, so it will just take a lot longer. Hope they aren't all cockerels! Often, cockerels will have thicker legs than pullets the same age. Mary

They both look the same as each other (as far as I can tell!) so I think I either have 2 pullets or 2 cockerels...crossing my fingers for pullets :D
