Possible rooster?

Thanks to all your help yesterday, seems like we have an olive/easter egger rooster in our bunch. One of our other small bantams (sebright) looks like it’s comb is developing a lot quicker than the other two the same breed. Could that also mean it’s a rooster as well? It is too quick for me to snap a picture or catch it. I’m worried about possibly having two roosters with our 21 count flock.

It could be. How old are they?

I wouldn’t worry about ratio and how well two males will work with your (give or take) 19 pullets. Every group is different, and each male is different when it comes to how many females he will actively persue. Many people, myself included, have had ratios of 1 male to 2 females, 2 males to 15 females, etc, and they have worked just fine. Of course, free ranging helps.

It’s good to have a plan B, in case things don’t work out, but there is no point in worrying about something that isn’t going badly. I totally understand that this is easier said than done, though

Thank you! That eases my mind. I was hopeful we would be ok. They are around 10/11 weeks old currently. I did find a picture you can see two of the sebrights side by side.

Yeah, he’s a cockerel. Keep an eye on everyone, you might have more than one surprises. They’re still pretty young

When the birds are too quick to get a good still photo I find it easier to shoot video, then pull stills from that.
