Possible sinus infection or more ?

My hen's face was a little bit swollen on one side.

Her eye is also weeping and there were some little bubbles on Sunday too.

There also seems to be a little bit coming from her nose on the side that's infected but all liquids are clear and no funky smells.

I took her to the vet and they have given Baytril for 10 days, once every day. Yesterday was the 4th. dose.

Since I first noticed it on Saturday, she has been acting like her normal self. Running around, scratching, eating.

She has also just started to moult, so for the first time ever I decided to give 3 of my chickens a small tin of tuna in spring water to share.

When I got up this morning, she was moving slowly and didn't eat her favourite food of all time ... tomatoes. She looked at it, almost went to eat it, then walked away slowly.

Is she like this because I gave her tuna ? Does anyone else feed tuna ?
Has she got more than a sinus infection ?
Does it take a while for the Baytril to start making her better ? She has 6 more doses to go.

So this morning she looks much better and really got into eating the porridge and fresh veggies I gave her for breakfast ... but I food a poop with a worm in it !!!!!!
I don't know who's poop it is though, so what do I do ?
Do I worm the whole flock ?
Also, do I need a wormer specific to this type of worm ?
I normally rely on apple cider vinegar with garlic for worming, but obviously this has not worked

Wyorp Rock, yes she is drinking. I'll try the boiled egg this afternoon. Can I feed it to her warm or does the egg need to cool down in the fridge first ?
I'll go to the produce store and see if I can buy grit only. I've only ever seen shell grit, but it's full of calcium and I don't think she wants any more calcium, so she maybe missing out on the grit because of this ?

I wouldn't know how to tell if her crop is emptying sorry

My vet is not a specialist in birds or poultry, but I am in the country so I would assume they see more chickens out here than they would in the city.
But no, she doesn't know what my chicken has.

You would need to cool it down some so she doesn't burn her tongue

If you don't fine poultry grit, you can give her some dirt or sand that she would normally consume out in the chicken yard . For some reason I missed that you were in AU.

If she has a bacterial infection that's sensitive to Baytril you should see improvement very quickly. If she's not getting better you should call the vet and let them know.

I will be in contact with the vet this afternoon if she still isn't eating.

So all she wanted was bread. Small pieces only, she's eating slowly. I might try some rolled oats warmed up in the microwave for her breakfast ?

We then gave her the dose of antibiotic and about 2 minutes later she vomited. I did not re-dose as I am unsure if she threw it all up or not.
I called the vet, they couldn't help because they were about to close and no-one there was able to help with whether I should re-dose.

She now also has watery poop. I wouldn't call it diarrhoea, as I would imagine that diarrhoea would be quite smelly and more like a watery mashed pea type consistency and perhaps even a bit greeny brown ?
But her poop was brown and like I said, watery and not that smelly. Could she just be drinking lots of water ?
Is this just the next stage of the virus ?

I also weighed her and she is about the same weight as she was on Sunday, if not a little bit more, like 50 to 100 grams more.

So, I will give her a dose of antibiotics tomorrow and hopefully she keeps it down ...
Would there be a huge problem with her missing a dose ?

Is she drinking?

Try offering her wet poultry feed and some chopped hard boiled egg to see if she will take it. If she is not drinking, then try to encourage her to drink. If you have her isolated so you can monitor her - make grit (crushed granite) available for her.

Expelling foods/water (vomiting?) makes me thing crop function as well. Is her crop emptying overnight?

Contact your vet again, hopefully they can assist you or take a second look at her. Did they have any idea of what illness she has?

Here is the worm !

Those are large roundworms. What poultry wormers do you have in AU?

I'm not sure what types we have, but I phoned the vet and they said they can give me a wormer which goes on the chickens back.
They said they need to know how many chickens I have and their weight, so I'm not sure which brand this would be.

Sounds like they are going to give you ivermectin or moxidectin.
