Possum in the run. Heartbroken

It was harder I think to see her condition then to make that decision. So that I’m sure told you the condition she was in. I’m still heartbroken for my rooster. The Rhode Island Reds were his first ladies and he loves all his chickens but I noticed he did have a special spot for his Rhode Island Reds. And I’ve seen him trying to protect them so many times before and I could tell he was trying. And the other Easter Egger I’m sure it’s so heartbroken too because they always stuck together. The other Easter egger is the other one the possum got. Sad day for chickens humans and even cat.
I woke up a little late and was running a little late for work this morning and I hate thinking if I was running on time I would’ve known earlier and maybe could’ve prevented some of it
Don’t even go there Rachel.

The weirdest part is it was a possum. I’ve never really seen those in my area. I figured they were out there but when I put it there proof I get more worried and think more about raccoons and bobcats which are a lot more common to see around. And in the past week there have been five bear sightings nearby. And that’s why there was eggs scattered about under the coop
The key thing to remember is that you didn't have just one opossum, or any other predator for that matter. They all have relatives.

I’m positive the other ones can’t get in but I’m still doing electric fencing. It’s usually raccoons and bobcats that I worry about they are pretty common around here as far as predators. I rarely see a possum.Like I said even though he got in prior to our sealing it up I’m still taking tons of extra measures. We’re always on the lookout for predators. We just didn’t expect I have trapped one underneath the coop while trying to predator proof. My husband said he’s going to hang the possum corpse from the run to warn the others. I told him I don’t think it works like that. But this will not be happening again. Not to my ladies

We live in the country and our chickens free ranged, one morning I let them out early and was working in an out building. I heard squawking and I ran outside, there standing next to the field was a coywolf. He killed one and severely injured another but I was able to nurse it back to life and now she's doing fine. We found the leg band (we have 24 Black Stars) of the chicken the chicken the coywolf killed (we have 24 Black Stars) in the woods with teeth marks. We lost another to a hawk two months later:he I know how you feel.:hit
I’m sorry for your loss too. I do have to ask where do you live? I actually saw a quote for the first time a few months ago. I actually had to look it up to see what the heck that thing was. Luckily it was my friends property who doesn’t have chickens and not mine. But I heard some are heading into our area

We live north of Moscow ID.
OK apparently they are headed in several different directions. I know there’s been quite a few Sightings near the mountains in Albemarle County which is only about an hour from us. But all the way from Idaho to Virginia? It’s weird that I’m just now finding out what these things are. When I first saw it I was wondering what the heck?! We definitely have coyotes around this area but extremely rare for a wolf to come through. Maybe a fox but definitely not a wolf
