Post Phoenix Pics Please

Figure out what colors you want to duplicate and then breed them back to your full blooded stock to improve them even more in feather and type.. That's what I do..
yep I agree with that dvang, just depends on which way you want to go with them. Looks like you will have no trouble on some blue and splash reds for sure.

Aubrey...
Ahaha it's the same bird...
This is why I am confused.
He's silver, but when you lift up his feathers they are brown underneath....

He's super white... the camera does not do me any justice...
I love this guy, he's a beauty

In that case, it's just a golen duckwing then. The sun in the second pic blinds the viewer pretty much and you cant see the brown in it.
a silver will be all black and white. The golden will have other colors mixed in and often a slightly tinted hackle. Also known as dirty silvers

The hackles could be partially splashed due to the presence of a melanizer.. Ever get a duckwing with dark hackle tips or black caps? These melanizers are effecting the tips of the feathers and when you add a double dose of blue (splash) you get those melanized areas turning splash (looks white).. Color the bird black where it is splash and you will see what I am talking about.. Like the variations in the black shuberts.. You get varrying degrees of black hackling in the roosters..

All in all, they look like a fun group to work with.. Should be able to get CLEAN splash red duckwings from them and for $3 each, they were a steal!
Figured it had to be something like that Amanda, just never had or seen a bb red in any breed here with black in the hackles

Alright, here's the pictures of my 2 Phoenix. I swear this guy's comb looked identical to his sister's a week ago. And they just started getting those chest feathers, they're like 2 months old.
He's a boy, isn't he? I don't even need anyone to tell me that when I look at these pictures lol But their backs are identical. Such sweet little things. It's just rude how he disguised himself until I was in love with them both

yep you got a pair

Alright Sounds great!
Do people like splash phoenixes? Because I don't find them really appealing hahaha.
Because I hope to sell some eggs in the spring and I don't know if people would really want to purchase eggs from me if they are splash
If not, I am going to get rid of the splash ones completely and hopefully breed that gene out

For sure I will try to create silvers and bbreds out of them and blue golden hopefully...

I hope to produce pyle phoenixes out of them. Any suggestions on how I can do that?
"my idea"
... I am planning on purchasing one or two pyle oeg bantams or just regular bantam pyle hens. Breed the roosters to them and "duplicate" the pyle gene hahaha

personally I love anything blue or splash in them

to make the treu pyles you do have to introduce the domonate white gene

you can do that with oegb but their feathering can make it an issue to get back to type.
will just take a few years to get there is all
breed them to the pyles you will get them right off if you bred to a bb red phoenix, just continue to breed the pyle offspring back to really good bb phoenix for a few years and you'll get there... That or just buy some from me and be done with it,,,,haha

LOL ! Hahahahaha niceeeee :p
Hilarious. Do you have pyles?
So you're saying I should breed them to a BBred Hen and that could make me some pyles? then just duplicate those genes...?

As for splashes, I personally don't like them. I don't know, don't get me wrong but they just look dirty to me.
I just fear it will be hard to sell splash eggs :S

Yes I have a few right now. Been working a good bit on dominate white based colors this year, should have some nice pyles in duckwing and birchen next year as well as some dominate white based gingers.

yes on your out cross, doesnt matter sex wise, but seeing how you have a lot of males, put one of them over a red pyle hen.
The first cross should be about 50/50. Pick the best tyed and colored pyles from that and keep back crossing to bb red phoenix til you get the type right. You should be about 50/ 50 pyle and bb red on each cross til you finally start crossing pyle to pyle. That first cross will make some bb reds too, but the pyles from that will then breed true from there on. It atkes several yaers to finish up.

Now for the splash, you do know once you clean up the color a bit, they look pretty much identical to red pyles right? You cant call them that of course, but the look if about the same. The double dose of blue diltues the reds just like dominate white does. and bred splash to splash, the color will breed true for you.
