yep I agree with that dvang, just depends on which way you want to go with them. Looks like you will have no trouble on some blue and splash reds for sure.Figure out what colors you want to duplicate and then breed them back to your full blooded stock to improve them even more in feather and type.. That's what I do..
Aubrey...
Ahaha it's the same bird...
This is why I am confused.
He's silver, but when you lift up his feathers they are brown underneath....
He's super white... the camera does not do me any justice...
I love this guy, he's a beauty
Figured it had to be something like that Amanda, just never had or seen a bb red in any breed here with black in the hacklesThe hackles could be partially splashed due to the presence of a melanizer.. Ever get a duckwing with dark hackle tips or black caps? These melanizers are effecting the tips of the feathers and when you add a double dose of blue (splash) you get those melanized areas turning splash (looks white).. Color the bird black where it is splash and you will see what I am talking about.. Like the variations in the black shuberts.. You get varrying degrees of black hackling in the roosters..
All in all, they look like a fun group to work with.. Should be able to get CLEAN splash red duckwings from them and for $3 each, they were a steal!
Alright, here's the pictures of my 2 Phoenix. I swear this guy's comb looked identical to his sister's a week ago. And they just started getting those chest feathers, they're like 2 months old.
He's a boy, isn't he? I don't even need anyone to tell me that when I look at these pictures lol But their backs are identical. Such sweet little things. It's just rude how he disguised himself until I was in love with them both![]()

LOL ! Hahahahaha niceeeeepersonally I love anything blue or splash in them
to make the treu pyles you do have to introduce the domonate white gene
you can do that with oegb but their feathering can make it an issue to get back to type.
will just take a few years to get there is all
breed them to the pyles you will get them right off if you bred to a bb red phoenix, just continue to breed the pyle offspring back to really good bb phoenix for a few years and you'll get there... That or just buy some from me and be done with it,,,,haha
ThanksDidn't exactly want or need another boy around here but so be it!
Yes I have a few right now. Been working a good bit on dominate white based colors this year, should have some nice pyles in duckwing and birchen next year as well as some dominate white based gingers.LOL ! Hahahahaha niceeeee
Hilarious. Do you have pyles?
So you're saying I should breed them to a BBred Hen and that could make me some pyles? then just duplicate those genes...?
As for splashes, I personally don't like them. I don't know, don't get me wrong but they just look dirty to me.
I just fear it will be hard to sell splash eggs :S
