Post Phoenix Pics Please

Dou, if I get a sec this week end I'm gonna take a pic of one of the silver Ismer hens I got from Toni-Marie for you since you like the cock feathered girls. Was looking at her today and thought of you. Figured you'd like to see her. She's one of the very few I've had or seen that kept the long tail. Hope I get a minute to do it
I am so excited!!!!!
I can't wait to see her :p
Offsprings? Eggs? Hook me up? Hahaha

will be glad to. She's in a pen with 6-8 other ismer hens though, all look awesome though, will get a group shot and a pic of her. May even isolate her next spring and put her with a male of her own for you if it helps, that way we'll know they came from her.
Just found out I got to work Sunday so will do my best to get it Saturday for you

Can someone explain to me Ismer & Schubert Lines ? Please? :)
Those are the names of the 2 people in German who developed the lines, more less a East German and West German line

The Ismer is a smaller built bird, mine are inbetween what I'd call our bantams and our large fowl here in the states. They tend to have a little leggier , gamier look to the as well.

The Schubert line are tanks, very big ( to me a bantam guy at least) stocky birds.

There is nothing super special about them feathering wise or anything, though they do get some good 3-5 foot tails with ease even on the ground.

These are some of the Schuberts I have. Hard to see size difference without them being next to each other. These were taken last fall during various stages of their molt.

This very old boy was one of the actual imports. He is one of the rare birds that doesnt have any rounded feathering, all his feathers are pointed. He is also the father to the first bird.

Here's on of the black schuberts

Dont have many on the Ismers on the compuer just yet

here's 1-2 just for reference, will get you some of those silvers tomorrow

maybe that helps a little, will get some good ones of the Ismer line tomorrow and that hen I mentioned

A sad day here for us as far as phoenix go. Our foundation silver hen passed on suddenly. We had her for about 8 years and she was an older bird when we got her. She had many, many chicks and was always a dependable broody hen. Her two latest chicks are only about 6 weeks old, one is a silver and one is a golden and we plan to keep both. She is survived by her first son (the golden rooster), her silver and silver pyle chicks/great grand chicks. She will live on not only in our flock through her offspring, but also through the eggs we sent off to others.

Thanks Aubrey

So there isn't anything really significant about this line of bird then?
I like the saddles on the first guy

yep that one got 28 inch saddles on the ground in breeding pens this year. and tons of them, he does have a nice supper thick rear end.

The main thing special about them is they are untouched blood wise, basically they arent related to any USA blood lines. Each line is a little different too. So the biggest attraction is the addition of totally and truely new blood to our breedings. And they have a little different look about them. Feather wise, they are awesome, but dont carry any non molting traits or anything like that.

All in all, they are both beautiful lines of European phoenix, with great feathering traits, and new blood to be used in with American lines.
You can go either way with them, bantam or large fowl. I made my bantam blacks off the 7+ pound black Schuberts. Toni has done the same with all her birds too.
