Post Phoenix Pics Please

to make standards just breed him to that standard hen you posted a pic of. May take a couple of back crosses, but you should see some size change pretty quick. I can also get you some eggs off these imports next spring if it'll help you out.

You asked size wise on them. The Schuberts are monsters to me, a good 6-8 pound looking bird. Never put one on a scale, but I'm sure the roos are every bit of that. The Ismers I have a about 1/3 that size. to me they are inbetween banatm and normal large fowl. 3-4 pounds would be about it on the ones I have
Oh wow! your preference, which do you like more... Schuberts or Ismers?

I was out looking at birds today as I was feeding and noticed that one of my light brown cockerels has really long 'eyebrows' as we call them. The feathers on either side of the comb that are normally tiny, well his are about 2" long and go upwards and curl. Now I am thinking about crossing him to the polish instead of the golden because the head feathers are so long. I will try to get a decent pic to show what it looks like

Yes, I have noticed the same 'eye brow feathers' thing in my long tails I raise. I have also seen very extreme examples of this in birds heavily selected for hackle and saddle feathers as seen in the two pictures below

You can also see other mutations of the hackle feathers with extreme genetic selection as below

The hackle feathers can also begin to grow in unusual places as seen in this bird that grows hackle type feathers across the backs of the wings and all across the back.

Just goes to show, breeding birds is like a box of chocolate, ya never know what yer gonna get

most all of my good males are like that Michael, anywhere from 1/2 " to maybe 2" on the brow
